Today we hit up our favourite city park for a winter walk. It was so awesome! My kids were super tired on the way back and I ended up carrying my little girl much of the return trip but it was totally worth it!
We started by veering off the main trail almost right away to check out the frozen creek. To my surprise it actually freezes completely! We were able to walk on top of the creek the entire way!
We saw many tracks in the snow on top of the ice which told us we weren't the first to try it out, and not just by the footprints and puppy tracks, it looked as though people were skating, skiing and driving something with wheels along the creek as well.
We also saw some deer tracks!
We followed the creek for a while until we came to a pretty cool sight; a natural spring/run off that was frozen in layers.
Growing up in Newfoundland I've seen some pretty impressive waterfalls and stuff but my kids were totally stunned by this little one!
My oldest is really in to rocks right now, he was interested in the layers of soil on the banks.
We had a blast :)
On our way back we had some seeds for the critters and I fed the chickadees again by hand; here's a video:
Hope you enjoyed my post! Once spring comes I'll have more exciting things to write about 😂 so stay tuned! ❤️
I like that you wrote your steemit name in the snow.
