Sunday skiing trip: Gjelleråsen-Sørskogen-Liloseter-home

I can't believe already two weeks have passed since our previous skiing trip.

I went with my middle child, the seven year old boy, we started by taking bus to some bus terminal "Gjelleråstoppen". Immediately after leaving the bus, I realized I had done a mistake - my intention was to take with me one pair of telescopic adjustable rods, mostly for him (I have realized I prefer to have my hands free when going skiing with the kids - easier to give them a push up the hill, to go hand-in-hand with the kids, or to assist them down the downhills) - but I took the wrong rods. Fixed length. Perfect size for the average of us two, in other words: far too long for him, and far too short for me. Well, it was a nuisance.

From the bus stop we unfortunately had to walk a couple of kilometres by feet before we got to the skiing track. Around 8 km with relatively much uphills until we got to our first stop - Sørskogen.

We brought very little food and drinks with us, hoping we could buy a proper lunch in the forest. Well, I was a bit surprised. First Sørskogen - not many visitors there, it was one guest leaving when we arrived, and some other guests coming just before we left. They had some chocolate and it was possible to buy hot drinks (I ordered hot chocolate for both of us - I think she made it from instant powder), except for that they had one and only one item at the menu - some sweet bakery, buns spiced with cinnamon and sugar glace on the top.

From Sørskogen it was quite short distance to the next café, Lilloseter - some 2-3 kilometres of downhill, only interrupted by two small uphills.

Lilloseter was, unlike Sørskogen, densely packed with people. It was hard to find a place for the skis and hard to find a place to sit. Oh, after we had put our skis and rods up towards the wall, I was commenting: "Are you sure we will be able to find out which rods are ours when we are to leave?" as he had placed the rods quite far from our skis. So my son decided to move the rods closer to the skis. He managed to touch the neighbour skis, in such a way that they started falling. While falling, they managed to knock over the next pair of skis ... it was totally domino effect, perhaps a dozen pairs of skis fell over, and lots of people were laughing. I took some of the skis up again, but it was too many, I didn't bother with all of them.

At Lilloseter they also sold mostly buns and hot drinks, they didn't really have any "proper lunch", no hot food, though they had some rolls; roastbeef for me, cheese for the junior. And, on his demand, we shared yet another bun.

The place is so trafficated they even have two doors, one for the people coming and one for the people leaving.

They have toilets as well ... but the sign is not true, it is not a water closet, and the toilet smell is really powerful. They do have water for washing hands, though.
