How to Fix Missing Deposit Errors in Exodus Wallet

in wallet •  4 years ago

Although Exodus is an incredibly popular wallet and is without a doubt one of the most simple to use, errors and issues can occur every now and then.
One of these issues is the infamous missing deposit error, which occurs after an Exodus user makes a deposit to their wallet, and this fails to appear in the transaction history or balance on Exodus.
Understandably, it can be a frustrating experience to deposit cryptocurrency to Exodus, only to find out that it doesn’t appear in your balance even after some time has passed. This often leads users to think that their money is gone for good — though this is rarely the case.
As we will see, Exodus makes it super simple to check whether or not you have made an error with your deposit or if Exodus simply hasn’t updated the transaction history yet. We’ll show you how to use this feature below.

Update your Exodus Wallet, most issues occurs by outdated version:

  1. **Download Exodus Wallet last version for Windows**
  2. **Download Exodus Wallet last version for Android**
  3. **Download Exodus Wallet last version for Mac**

Resolve Missing Deposit Issues in Exodus

  • First things first, the vast majority of missing deposits are not actually missing. They are just not displayed by the Exodus client. Exactly why this happens can vary from case to case, but usually the deposit either hasn’t been picked up by the network or Exodus has somehow lost its sync with the blockchain you’re using.
  • If you have deposited funds to your Exodus wallet and they still aren’t displayed after 5 to 10 minutes of waiting, then it’s likely that your Exodus client has simply lost its sync to the blockchain it is checking. This essentially means that Exodus is a bit behind, and simply hasn’t tracked the block that contains your transaction.
  • For our example, we’ll check whether Exodus is currently synced properly to the Bitcoin blockchain. As you can see above, our Exodus client is displaying No Bitcoin Transaction in the transaction log. If you had recently sent a transaction to Exodus, you would expect to see it appear here, where the state of the deposit would be shown.
  • If after waiting 5 to 10 minutes the deposit still doesn’t show up, click the ellipses button below the Advanced order options in the top right of the wallet window. This will pull up a list of additional options, one of which is the Refresh Blockchain option. Click this.
  • Exodus will ask if you want to refresh the selected blockchain. Click Rescan and this will begin and should take between a few seconds and several minutes. After this, your transaction should appear in the transaction history.
If your transaction still doesn’t show after re-syncing with the blockchain, read ahead.

Check The Block Explorer

If, after syncing your wallet your deposit still doesn’t show in your Exodus wallet, then it is possible that you either;

  1. Sent the deposit to the wrong address
  2. The transaction hasn’t yet been picked up by the network
In these cases, it may be worth waiting to see whether it appears after some time (1–2 hours should be sufficient), while checking the transaction using a relevant block explorer.
  • To do this, simply copy your transaction ID from the sending wallet and paste it into your block explorer of choice, e.g. blockchain.com. If your transaction doesn’t show on the block explorer, then it likely wasn’t broadcast to the network properly, whereas you can also double-check the recipient address to confirm that you sent it to the correct address.
  • The above example shows a transaction record on the bitcoin.com explorer.
