Today we will be going over a standard error with the Ledger Live application; you may have seen an error “MCU firmware is not genuine,” we have a fix for that. Below are some steps that you can take to resolve the problem. This process should not take anymore than ten minutes to fully complete.
Don’t panic, this problem can be solved quickly, and you will be on your way to interacting with your cryptocurrency in no time.

Steps to fix

Most of the Ledger Live issues can be resolve by updating Ledger Live application!

Download last version Ledger Live for:

  1. Ledger Live
  2. Ledger Wallet
    Step 1: You will need to take out your Ledger device and click both buttons together until you can see the “Identifier” tool.
    Step 2: Once you see the identifier tool, you will have to click both buttons again on your device until you see a screen that says, “The device will run in unsafe mode.”
    Step 3: You will now have to press both buttons on your device for the last time. Once you click both, you should be able to see the dashboard; if you don’t, then you will need to move to the “Con..” section below. If you see the panel, then you can move to Step 4.
    Step 4: If you’re able to see the dashboard, you will need to uninstall all your applications manually. This will not cause you to lose any of your cryptos.
    Step 5: You will now need to update your firmware that is in the “Manager” tab.

Step 1: If you were not able to see the dashboard after following up to step 3 in the above section, then you will need to go to the “Manager” tab and wait for a blue “Repair” button to appear. If you don’t see it, then go to settings and click on “Help” and then “Repair your Ledger device.”
Step 2: Now, you can connect your Ledger Nano.
Step 3: On Ledger Live, you will see an option that says, “MCU firmware is not genuine” click that and then proceed with “Repair.” If your device says “MCU firmware is not genuine,” then you will need to press both buttons three times in a row.
Step 4: If the loading screen is at 100% and the device has not been able to pass the “bootloader” mode, then you will need to restart your Ledger using one of the options below.
Windows/Linux: Restart your Ledger Live application by pressing CTRL + R. You will need to restart it twice.
macOS: Restart your Ledger Live application by pressing ⌘ + R. You will need to reset it twice.
