Upgrade Your VET Security with the Ledger Nano X and VeChain Sync

Designed to power the future of supply chains and IoT infrastructure, VeChain is widely considered to be a sleeping giant among blockchain platforms.

VeChain (VET) is an innovative blockchain platform that aims to improve business operations processes and supply chain management through the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT).
The VeChain ecosystem is powered by two tokens. The first is VeChain Token (VET) which is used for transferring value, whereas the second is VeChainThor (VTHO) which is used to pay for tokenized transactions. Designed for enterprise, this dual-token setup allows businesses to launch and operate low-cost Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks that are secured by blockchain cryptography — ensuring the integrity of the data they transmit.
Despite launching less than two years ago, VeChain is already one of the largest cryptocurrencies in operation and has a market capitalization in excess of $250 million. Likewise, the cryptocurrency is renowned for its wild price swings, which has made VET a popular choice for both traders and holders.
Recognizing this popularity, Ledger recently added support for VeChain and is now compatible with the popular VeChain wallet — VeChain Sync, which we’ll demonstrate how to use in this tutorial.

Before you begin: You will need to have an initialized Ledger Nano X hardware wallet, plus the VeChain app already installed on your Ledger device. To learn how to install apps to your device, click here.
As it stands, VeChain Sync is currently only available for Linux, Mac OS, and Windows operating systems. Mobile users will not be able to manage their VeChain using VeChain Sync. Installation files for the wallet can be downloaded from the official website.

Connect the Ledger Nano X with VeChain Sync

Update your Ledger Live application:

  1. Ledger Live
  2. Ledger Wallet

**(1) **First, you will need to connect your Ledger to a computer running VeChain sync and unlock the device. Once unlocked, open the VeChain app, but leave your Ledger connected to your computer.

**(2) **In VeChain Sync, click the ‘Create Now’ button and then select the ‘Ledger’ option available in the top right of the screen.

**(3) **VeChain Sync will then sync with your Ledger Nano X and will begin scanning for VeChain public keys. When you see the above screen, choose a device name (of up to 20 characters) and then click the ‘Import’ button.
VeChain Sync will then import all of the available addresses from your Ledger and will set up a wallet for you to use.

**(4) **You will then be able to selectively manage all of your recently imported addresses with VeChain Sync. These can be renamed or removed using the designated buttons or can be managed by selecting an address.

**(5) **After selecting an address you will then be provided the options to either initiate a transfer (‘Transfer’) of VET or VeThor Tokens (VTHO), or verify an address using the ‘Verify’ button. You’re now ready to securely store your VET and VTHO using the Ledger Nano X in combination with VeChain Sync!

**Tip: **You will need your Ledger Nano X nearby to perform sensitive actions, such as sending payments and signing messages.
