Users who have been using Bitcoin Cash have recently reported that they continually get a popup message that says, “This is not a valid Bitcoin Cash address” in red writing. This is a standard error with Bitcoin Cash; however, it could appear for other coins.

Introduction

Today we are going to go over the Bitcoin Cash sending error and explain how it can be fixed. We will explain why the error might be happening to you so that it can be prevented in the future. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below, and we can help you. Before you start with the steps below, make sure that you have your Ledger device already synced with Ledger Live, and that you have the most updated firmware installed. You will also need the Bitcoin Cash application downloaded on Ledger Live and have the latest version.

Steps

Most of the Ledger Live issues can be resolve by updating Ledger Live application!

Download last version Ledger Live for:

  1. **Download Ledger Live for Windows**
  2. **Download Ledger Live for Android**
  3. **Download Ledger Live for MAC OS**
Step 1: Open the Bitcoin Cash application and go to “Settings” and then “Public Key export approval.”
Step 2: Next, you will need to select one of two options, which include “Manual approval” and “Auto approval.” Select the option that best suits your needs.
Step 3: If you are using a CashAddr then you will need to convert your address since Ledger does not support it. (This is the most common reason as to why you are getting the error message.)
If you need a converter, you can use this address.
*If the problem is still occurring, then you will need to take screenshots and send the information to the Ledger support team, which can take up to 10 days to receive a message due to network backup.

Conclusion

“This is not a valid address” is a problem that typically is seen on Ledger Live when users are trying to send Bitcoin Cash to a CashAddr since it is not supported on Ledger; however, this can be easily fixed by simply using a converter to change the address.
