Possibility of a arms conflict erupting over this is very remote. China is flexing its muscle and India is declaring to the world that it is not a pushover state. Both country know the cost of conflict and have no intention of getting into it. This will get dragged on for some time and when media attention is away both nations will quietly pull back.

That is true but my angle to look at it is that both nations have made their stance clear. When too much is said then it becomes hard to pull back. It becomes embarrasing for both parties. I hope both will mutually agree to retreat.
