Aleksa's Book Review: Manual of the Mercenary Soldier

This is a book that I read out of fun and curiosity, not expecting to learn anything. I was hoping to hear some fun stories and get inspired to visit beautiful places, and rest from the drudgery of my reading material for the last few weeks. Imagine my shock when this book goes into the in-depth analyses of mercenary law, payment processing, passport arrangements, and psychological health care, instead of adventure.

That's fine, though - I now know the basics of negotiating with a gun to your head, how to handle malaria if you don't have medicine, and the basics of how to move weapons across borders. The book is written in a semi-humorous tone and you'll have a lot of fun reading it. For me, the reading was interspersed with giggles of delight and gape-mouthed awe at the brutality of what I'm reading.

This is by no means professional reading nor anything to list on your resume, but it's a pretty entertaining bathroom read that can teach you a thing or two about a thing or two.
