Wisdom is mysterious and due to its abstraction it is often difficult to teach, and King Solomon as a wise man in some of his books tried to convey his secrets to us. We live in a world where technological advances are valued, but paradoxically, a large part of humanity dies from a great evil that could not be eradicated, ignorance, and this is what an old science, wisdom, deals with; because as the prophet taught: "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6.
The King Solomon, as a prefiguration of Jesus, showed us in the Book of Proverbs a personified wisdom, an incarnated wisdom that calls us to live sensibly and according to the ethical laws of the universe, the effective use of the science of wisdom is what divides the sensible men from the foolish. If we want to solve the great problems of the world, we must listen to wisdom and what it tells us.
And so the great king began his exposition:
"Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,
she raises her voice in the public square;
on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:
´How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
How long mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?´" Proverbs 1:20-22.
This mysterious personified wisdom, in which the author of the book uses the feminine article to describe it, warns us that if we do not take her into account in order to live, destructive unforeseen events can happen to us; wisdom is benevolent, uplifting and progressive. Because we must not forget that all our actions are subject to the law of harvest and sowing: "For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind." Hosea 8:7.
When the unforeseen comes to whom will the fools turn?. In this way the master of wisdom taught us about the warnings of wisdom:
"When they cry for help, I will not answer.
Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.
For they hated knowledge
and chose not to fear the LORD.
They rejected my advice
and paid no attention when I corrected them.
Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way" Proverbs 1:28-31.
