I started doing short 24 hour fasts to see how it would feel. I started out every other day the first week, then every day the next week. I last ate approximately 54 hours ago, so I am coming to the morning of day 3 without any food. I think doing the 2 weeks of prep helped my body get ready for the more prolonged fast. I found the first 2 days were not as bad as the first week of intermittent fasting had been. I also noticed that when I did become hungry, the feeling passed quite quickly (between 5 and 10 minutes). My current goal is 7 days(168 hours). I might try and go longer in the future depending on how the next few days go.

It is important that before you try any kind of long term fast you try something shorter just to make sure that there are no side-effects that you may have to worry about. This is especially true if you are taking medication or have any sort of medical condition that could be exacerbated by a change in diet.
