The "Fake Rich" cancer and why we should avoid it.

Nothing remains hidden forever and that is a fact. At a pint in time, whatever was done in the dark will come out to the light. I believe you have had an encounter which buttresses my point. Everyone actually has a one point or will someday know of what I write off today. In a world of glamorous lifestyles, Instagram/snapchat stories and expensive tastes, it is easy for a lot of people to fall prey to a condition I term as “fake rich”.

It is easy to put on a façade portraying total wealth and independence but here is the kicker. Everything comes to an end. Every birthday celebrated draws us to that end many hate to discuss but the inevitable cannot be changed. So, as one puts on this image to usually attract friends on “the gram” and other social media networks, little do they know that the end of their charade which is usually accompanied by shame, loss of respect from almost everybody they knew and their inability to show their faces in public ever again (in most instances).

I understand the pressures of today’s world may be hard on the youth but that is no excuse to do something that would end up destroying one’s self in the aftermath. Instead of seeking to please all, why don’t we take our time like “real rich people” do , work hard ,smart (diversification of investments) and eventually, even if that means 10 years, we will get there. To me, that is worth trying because when you depart from us one day, your descendants will get to carry on with whatever you started (your legacy).

If you are out there, in the “fake rich” situation and you feel trapped, please find a way to exit before you are exposed and trust me, you will get exposed. Find that one thing that is keeping you there. Is it your girlfriend or your friends? Whatever it is, know that, it won’t be there when you are caught but if you were to unplug yourself and start something genuine , you may save your dignity in the run.

Agree with your view also. Sometimes we don't need to achieve that "fake rich" thing, we will need to be true to ourselves.

it is hard but attainable right?

@kwakumax I couldn't agree more...
That is what we see and witness in this our world today. The social media somewhat allow people to project images, personalities, statuses (give it a name) that are not consistent with who they truly are. And with time, the fake reality will fade away by being exposed to others.

Living a fake life wont get you anything but destroy your dignity and the trust friends and family have for you.

Exactly. Nothing good ever comes from lying.

Interesting post Kwaku. Integrity is key to lasting riches. Pretending to be what you are not is sinking sand. Thanks for the enlightenment

You are most welcome.
