I've never understood people that are like, "I don't like rich person x. Here, look at this stupid thing they did or said!"

I mean... Ok? If they're not running for office, it's not a decision whether or not to vote for them. I'm not going to make a choice whether or not to buy their product based on who they are as a person or something. I'm never going to meet them, so it's not info that's gonna affect whether we hang out. If I respect them and you don't, I don't feel a need to make a case for them or have reason to care whether or not you do. The attacks are never actually funny (ok... Usually. Haha).

Like... if you don't like them, what am I supposed to do with that information, exactly? The whole trend just seems so bizarre.

I like Elon too, and he's the obvious example. There's things I don't like about him too.

But even past him. If an actor or actress has a scandal, they're no worse or better an actor. If a businessman is bad at business, it won't last. I just don't get what pointing out any flaws someone sees is actually meant to accomplish.

Maybe if it's bad enough, people will boycott or something? I don't know... Those generally don't even work and it's gotta be something pretty bad for people to get on board, not just... "There's this bad tweet" or something.

If Bezos was a card carrying communist openly advocating Marxism, I'd still buy most of my shit from Amazon. If the head of Pepsi and Coke were represented by one libertarian and one statist, maybe it might make me lean to one over the other, not seeing a huge difference between on other fronts. I guess sometimes it does work the opposite way... Like if a product is marketed as a liberty product I might be more likely to buy it for kitsch (I wanna try some Ben Franklin label Madeira wine that I'm sure tastes just like other Madeira wines). But if Ben and Jerry's has an ice cream flavor I really wanna try I will without caring about their politics.

There's very few places where I tend to feel like it matters, though. If someone's really opposed to my politics and making a movie meant to support their view, I'm not likely to like it. But if I know I'm really opposed to them politically and they're making a non political film, it might still be great. I don't know... At least in most circumstances, it don't really matter to me, even if they're annoying irl and I know they are.
