“AND you shall remember the LORD YOUR GOD, FOR IT IS HE WHO GIVES YOU POWER TO GET WEALTH, that He may establish [confirm] His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
• Power for Wealth
- Another word for Power in our text, Deuteronomy 8:18, is ability. The Hebrew word is "kōah", and it also means able, strength, substance, and wealth.
- It does mean you cannot get financial prosperity by physical strength alone.
THE Scripture says:
"FOR by [physical or human] strength no man shall prevail" (1 Samuel 2:9 NKJV).
"NO ONE WILL SUCCEED BY [physical or human] STRENGTH ALONE" (1 Samuel 2:9 NLT).
- You prevail or succeed by God's power, the ability, the strength, given you by the Holy Spirit.
(a) You generate God's Power, strength, and ability, by acquiring the knowledge of the Word of God—the Bible (Joshua 1:8).
(b) You also generate God's Power, spiritual strength and ability, by prayer and fasting. - That said, you also have your own aspects to do, you develop yourself by acquiring skill.
WHATEVER the blessing of God, there is an aspect to be done by God, and that of the Man to be done.
• Special skill
- You need to pray possibly with fasting for God to give you special skill.
YOU cannot excel with the talent only, you need special skill to excel. - There are many talented people in your Field of endeavour, but what Will GIVE you an edge over them is the special skill that is given you by God:
1 “Then the LORD said to Moses, 2 "Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 I HAVE FILLED HIM WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD, GIVING HIM GREAT WISDOM, ABILITY, AND EXPERTISE IN ALL KINDS OF CRAFTS. 6 "And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I HAVE GIVEN SPECIAL SKILL TO ALL THE GIFTED CRAFTSMEN [naturally talented Craftsmen] so they can make all the things I have commanded [instructed] you to make" (Exodus 31:1-3,6 NLT). - God said in verse 3 that He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, and has given him a great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kind of crafts.
- In verse 6 He said "I have given special skill to all the gifted Craftsmen, naturally talented Craftsmen."
- Great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts are given by the Holy Spirit.
- These people were gifted, they were naturally talented, but they needed special skill to fulfill the assignment given to them.
- Likewise, you would need wisdom, ability, expertise, and special skill to experience financial success in whatever you do.
• How:
- Fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, By praying in the Spirit—praying in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2; Jude 20).
- Talking and hearing from God, that He may receive direction from Him—the prayer of enquiry: "THUS says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD, WHO TEACHES YOU TO PROFIT, WHO LEADS YOU BY THE WAY YOU SHOULD GO" (Isaiah 48:17 NKJV).
READ: 1 Samuel 30:8 - Humility Or meekness: being ready and willing to shelve your personal ideas to accommodate that of God (Psalm 25:9).
- The personal ideas or plans that are not in agreement with that of God should be discarded completely (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25).
- God can only guide and lead the meek who is ready to do whatever is said to be done by God. And such should be prompt in doing it: "THE HUMBLE HE GUIDES IN JUSTICE, and THE HUMBLE HE TEACHES HIS WAY" (Psalm 25:9 NKJV).
- God will not guide and lead a recalcitrant person; someone who is unwilling to follow instructions or who is difficult to control, who will argue, rebel, and disobey whatever He says:
8 "Do not correct a scoffer [who foolishly ridicules and takes no responsibility for his error] or he will hate you;
Correct a wise man [who learns from his error], and he will love you.
9 GIVE INSTRUCTION TO A WISE MAN AND HE WILL BECOME EVEN WISER; Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning" (Proverbs 9:8,9 AMP). - A delayed obedience is also a disobedience. Prompt obedience is required by God from whoever wants to walk with Him and receive the secret of financial abundance.
• Prayer
- The import of Prayer in generating financial abundance is in dealing with the devil when he does want to hinder whatever God has channeled to you (Luke 10:19).
- You might be practicing all the principles, but the devil may want to play on your intelligence by trying to withhold your Blessings (Daniel 10:12,13).
- You will need to exercise authority over the devil, telling him to take his hands off on things that belong to you: "18 And He [Jesus] said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 BEHOLD, I GIVE YOU THE AUTHORITY TO TRAMPLE ON SERPENTS AND SCORPIONS, AND OVER ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY, and nothing shall by any means hurt you" (Luke 10:18,19 NKJV).
- Whatever you demand in Jesus' name would be done, demons obey when you command them to move in Jesus' name: "You can ask Him [God the Father] for anything, using My [Jesus'] name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you. 14 YES, ASK ANYTHING, USING MY NAME, AND I WILL DO IT! (John 14:13,14 Living Bible).
READ: Philippians 2:9-11; Romans 14:11 - You need to deal with the devil and all his allies in the place of prayer to remove their hands on all that belong to you: your financial blessings, as well as any spiritual Blessings of yours.
- You need to call forth the things that belong to you, those that are lingering in the realm of the spirit to manifest: "... God, who gives life to the dead AND CALLS THOSE THINGS WHICH DO NOT EXIST AS THOUGH THEY DID" (Romans 4:17).
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
