I thought this was worth sharing because my intuition on a blockchain site is that I'm not going to be seeing Google ads. I'm not terribly bothered by it but I was surprised.
As a result, I'm going to only use Steemit from the Brave browser. [Link includes my referral code]. In the past 30 days, Brave has blocked 160,000 ads, done 2500 https upgrades, and saved me 2.5 hours by cutting out all those Javascript trackers running constantly in the browser. And stability has been better than Chrome.
Hivemind - the backend service which is in development by steemit Inc. will completely replace the google search with its own full-text search.

Regarding the usage of Brave:
I am still waiting for a full chrome extension support as I need a few important extensions which are currently not supported in Brave.
