I have only been collecting sign ups or users for my website for a few months because the first plugin I used (Easy sign up DO NOT USE IT) was not counting or saving information on my sign ups.
Since getting rid of that plugin (a few months ago) I have had over 2000 people sign up to my site! Thank you to everybody that has signed up its more than I expected or thought possible considering I am banned from Facebook and Google plus having not counted a new follower for years despite my stats are showing I have new followers every month.
I am pleased to have received so much interest but this interest causes a slight and surprising problem!
That problem is contacting people that have signed up to my site! I was using Mail Chimp and Mail Chimp is a good easy to use service and free for up to 2000 contacts. After that things get a bit pricey to say the least.
These people have left me their email addresses to be kept up to date yet the cost of me contacting them means keeping them up to date is going to be difficult. I recently removed all ads from my website but I may be forced to reintroduce the ads in an attempt of covering this cost.
There are slightly cheaper alternatives to Mail Chimp (I have tried a few and already wasted more time than I wanted to on looking around) but Mail Chimp is easy to use, fast and the mail does not end up as Spam. I really can not moan about the service Mail Chimp offers at all but the cost is ridiculous and it is harder than you think to find an alternative. They all seem to be priced similar and if you do find one that seems cheap its because its rubbish (I have spent about three days looking!)
Why is this kind of service so expensive? Surely these high prices prevent many people from using the service and developing into a profitable business. I don’t mind paying for a service that simplifies the procedure of sending “email blasts” and makes the emails more presentable but I would have thought a free or much cheaper service would have been available, after all these people signed up and consented to receiving emails and I assumed sending emails was FREE like it should be!
These kind of high charges allows the rich to spread their messages freely but as usual they oppress the poor.
Constant Contact, Aweber, GetResponse, iContact are some other email services, no idea of cost just some suggestions.

Looked at all except Constant Contact also been on many comparison pages, the prices are either similar or one that was $99 per year went to spam.
