A Walk in the Park

So, the oldest princess asks me at about 11 o'clock this morning, "Hey Daddy, can we go fishing?" I'm all, well of course! Definitely don't have to ask me twice. So, for those that have been wondering where I was all day, this post is your answer. As we carried our gear to a desired spot, we had to stop and check out some flowers along the way. Maybe @ameliabartlett can identify them all for you :)

Once we finally got to our destination, after going around a few turns and over a bridge on the walkway, we set up shop and started our fishing excursion. We saw many kinds of wildlife, from turtles and birds to snakes and crawdads. We tried to snag a few smaller fresh water lobsters, but were unsuccessful. The snake was a little scary, I had to ward it off as it appeared about a foot from Luna's big toe. A water moccasin. Poisonous, yes, but easily scared away with a few good hooks to the face.

There is a certain presentation necessary to entice fish to bite in the warmer months. Primarily, movement. With nothing more than a worm and hook, both girls caught at least one fish today. You'll notice the bobbers on the lines, that is so they know when they have a fish as they are still too inexperienced and lack the attention span to 'feel the line'. I even got some live action excitement to show how we all felt upon their first catches of the day, enjoy!
