A UNIQUE GIFT...ONE OF A KIND FROM OUR LOCAL ARTISTS...#WEDNESDAYWALK #MAKEMESMILE

in wednesdaywalk •  5 years ago

Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you all have gotten out, taken that big cleaning breathe and enjoyed your day.

I don't know about all of you, but Christmas gift giving for our family was all about the children. Creating fond memories,
believing in ole St. Nick, sharing the wonder of the Holidays.

For @thebigsweed and I that meant, giving it all away. We felt that the joy our children experienced by getting a pile of colorfully wrapped gifts was so much more important than us giving to each other.

Don't get it wrong, my kids opened tons of gifts from Santa, even if it was a fruit roll-up. I wrapped everything.

So for many years, my hubby and I discovered ways to give gifts to each other that didn't cost a cent.

Home made cards, hugs and laughter were enough for us.

Coupons were on the top of the list. Some 35 years ago or so I gave my beautiful man a coupon book. Inside were special gifts from me that he could cash in at anytime, night or day, but they were only valid for one year.

It was our inside joke.

But now that our children are grown and our grand children are secure, we feel blessed, yet I am still giving coupons to this big man that I have shared such a wonderful life. He insists, no store bought gifts, just give me my coupons.😉

Well, this Christmas to my surprise, I was given this beautiful bracelet made by a local artist. It's a silver bracelet with a green sea glass stone in it. I was blown away. We have not given each other gifts in such a long time, I just didn't expect it!

So for my #wednesdaywalk I went to the gallery where he had bought it to peruse all the wonderful gems and artistic work our local artists had to offer.

Introducing Gallery Three-Two-One...Oxford NY.

This wonderful place has been owned and operated for three generations. I met the grand daughter, who now, with her husband, has learned the craft of pottery, which was her grandfather's craft when he first opened their doors.

They now showcase many artists work, all unique, original works of art in their gallery.
Just take a look @tattoodjay, I think you will appreciate it.

All the pottery done on the premise can be personalized. What a day it was. The exterior was just as enjoyable as the interior. Just a really nice afternoon stroll through a very unique gallery.

Good morning @tattoodjay, yes that gallery is just fun to look around and enjoy the talent of these artists. While most things there are pretty pricey, I can appreciate the time and craftsmanship that goes into original pieces .
So I loved the fact that my hubby blew price to the wind and gave me such a beautiful bracelet, his coupon book just got bigger hehehe

That was so nice of your hubby, :)

my kids opened tons of gifts from Santa, even if it was a fruit roll-up. I wrapped everything.

Personally I think half the fun for them is the unwrapping (or should I say RIPPING) anyway haha!

That bracelet is gorgeous and I think the concept behind them is super! Very original!

As for the coupons... hehehe I used to do exactly that for my mom when I was a little girl haha!

Lovely post hon @farm-mom! Big love to you and @thebigsweed

Good day to @jaynie, yes, when the kids are little and still believe in Santa, it really is the ripping of the paper and the pile they get to rip through. So cute.
In fact, 2 of my grand daughters, cousins, age 3 and 18 months got a hold of some bubble wrap from a package and found that to be the best of all the gifts. hehe

Beautiful bracelet! 😍 Never thought that glass from the wine bottle can be given a new life in this way.

Good morning @elizacheng, nice to hear from you. Oh boy, the bracelet is so pretty and unique. I never really knew what sea glass was either until I received this gift from my hubby @thebigsweed. I love it!
Have a wonderful day, I am glad I made you smile😀
