Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile: The promenade of the heroes

Inspired by the Wednesday Walk of @tattoodjay and collaboration with [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng

Hello dear friends of the Wednesday walk and Make Me Smile,

The Wednesday walk this time coincides with the first day of 2020, so after the family reunion last night, today, my wife and I went to the "Paseo de Los Próceres" on Caracas (The promenade of the heroes).

I remember that in my youth in this place many people met year after year to witness events for children and to walk all in family. Now, we saw very few people walking with their children.

The promenade of the heroes is a space that is in the vicinity of the military security zone and without fear of being mistaken, it was one of the works built under the government of General Marcos Perez Jimenez. It is a long avenue that goes from Fort Tiuna to the Tres Gracias square in front of the Central University of Venezuela.

We on this occasion began to walk in an intermediate square called the Symbols. We observe elements that indicate that it is being restored, as well as ornaments and lighting of the Christmas season.

We advanced through the central road towards the monument of the heroes, oh surprise, we saw farm animals grazing. A cow, a horse, two donkeys and three sheep, which were under the care of a man in charge of the living manger. He made us smile. The man told us that since yesterday few people visited the manger and that at night, the avenue looked very beautiful with multicolored lighting

We continue walking until we reach the main square of the Paseo de los Próceres, and the first thing we find is an obelisk and an equestrian statue of an Indian guarded on all four sides by beautiful white lions that roar.

My wife and I agreed to return tonight to see the illuminated square up close. We saw that it is also being restored, especially in its water sources. I took several photographs of the sculptures with classic motifs. Children with dolphins, reliefs with faces of satires and ladies with Greek clothes, as well as statues of naked women around the small fountains.

Finally we reach the monoliths and the statues of the main heroes, both structures are written both the name of the main battles and the remains of commanders of the outstanding units that participated in the emancipation fight of Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia
