I just had a look to see if I could i.d. your bug. I think it might be a dragonfly nymph. I mean, I have no idea, really — iNaturalist thinks it’s a southern hawker. Not to say their suggestions are always accurate, but after looking at some photos, it’s definitely not impossible.

      INaturalist is fantastic — we usually use the identification tool as something like a starting point, and then research from there— there’s a lot more to the app, as well.
