While visiting Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City CA

I found this in a little pond next to Sharon Tate's grave.

I would have guessed tadpoles, if they had that signature spherical bulge near their head, but they have more of a prolate spheroid structure, so I think minnows would be a better guess. What do you think?

I am not sure, that's why I made this post. My son thinks it's minnows but when I was growing up...I remember catching tadpoles by the pond and they sure look like tadpoles to me....

These look more like minnows to me though it's a bit hard to tell by the image.

Tadpoles tend to be not as sleek. This is not my image, but it'll show you what I mean.

I can't quite tell by the your photo, but minnows can sometimes be a bit shiny, and tadpoles tend to be dark.

disclaimer: I don't know if they're are any difference between from the minnows/tadpoles in my homestate of New York from ones in CA.

yeah sorry the photo wasn't the clearest....I wish I had taken more..as a part-time Entomologist I have the affinity to know about things like this lol

No worries! It's can be hard to get clear images of creatures underwater! I just hope you were able to find your answer.
