How many people know Wesley Willis? He is one of my favourite outsider type rock artists from the 90's - early 2000s

My friend in Chilliwack first introduced me to this musician in the late 90s and I bought the album Rock and Roll Will Never Die. Every song was about a concert Wesley attended! Very cool. He was a schizophrenic black guy from Chicago who played songs on a keyboard and sang his own lyrics. Every song sounds almost the same and at the end of every tune there is an advertisement he does himself. Sometimes it's Pepsi - Uh huh! or Timex - takes a licking and keeps on ticking!! It was easy for me to get into cause my mother has schizophrenia and these people are special and have a unique way of seeing the world.

He would write songs about his schizophenic bad trips which he calls hell rides. He writes songs about life. About taking a trip on the bus. About his run ins with super heroes - sometimes he would kick their ass or sometimes they would whoop his. He also has many songs about beastiality. Back in the days of early Napster - many of the songs you would download were spoof songs... you'd try to download Metallica or Madonna but got a joke song instead ....most of the time it was the song - Suck My Dogs Dick - by Wesley Willis! A classic tune!!

I love Wesley. I can relate to much of the pain and joy in these songs. I have felt as an outsider in life and can relate to the paranoia from my mom. It is always good therapy listening to Wesley - I always have an emotional reaction - tears and laughter!

I always wanted to meet the guy and get a head-butt from him! He doesn't greet people with a hug or handshake but with a head-butt! That is why he has a callous on the middle of his head! I even had tickets to see him in Calgary on his Beastiality tour! But regrettably I missed it. He died 2 weeks later of leukemia.
