From today, WhatsApp users will be able to use the reaction feature. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, said on Facebook that the Reactions feature will be available to everyone starting Wednesday, May 5. Users will be able to respond to a WhatsApp message with one of six emoticons. Thumbs up, love, laughter, surprise, tears, and thankfulness are the six emojis accessible. According to the Meta creator, they have incorporated a gratitude reaction to assist users in expressing gratitude and appreciation. Mark also stated that more reaction emojis will be added to WhatsApp in the coming days.

WhatsApp began testing the functionality in March of this year and publicly unveiled it last month. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has confirmed that a number of other features, including an admin delete option, larger file sharing support, and more members to voice call, will be added to the app soon. This is a common reaction on popular social media messaging applications like Instagram and Twitter. Here's how you can put it to use.

[What Are WhatsApp Reactions and How Do You Use Them?]

The WhatsApp reaction feature is comparable to the Instagram Direct Messages reaction feature. You must long press a message on WhatsApp to respond to it. If you hold the message for a long time, a drop down menu will appear with options such as staring, deleting, forwarding, and so on. The reaction emojis will appear as a floating bar above the message. It will present you with six emoji alternatives from which to choose, and once selected, the reaction will be displayed at the bottom of the message. However, just like on Instagram, it's unclear whether you can undo this move.

[When will this feature be available to me?]

WhatsApp has officially announced that the reaction feature is now available to its billion users. Due to the high number, however, it may take some time to reach you. You can also check the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store for WhatsApp updates. Simply hold a text once it has been received to check if you are able to respond.
