WhatsApp keeps saving your photos and videos even if you have deleted them

WhatsApp often includes new elements to the application. One of the most recent allows to recover deleted files, even after 30 days. What does this mean? Even if you delete a photo of your chats, it will remain on the company server for a month.

Contrary to what is thought, the change is not linked to the new and stricter controls that the application will impose at the end of May, after the entry into force of the new General Regulation of Data Protection of the European Union, the which, once implemented, will establish that children under the age of 16 will not be able to use WhatsApp without having due authorization.

The risky side
According to the WABetaInfo specialist portal, although it can be seen as something positive or practical to be able to recover deleted photographs, the files are available to be restored up to two or even more months in advance. This means that even if a user deletes a content, it will still be stored on the WhatsApp servers. This, in theory, should not happen.

And the data protection?
This update, in fact, constitutes a significant breach of the user's data protection. And WhatsApp has kept silence about this function, since it has been little or nothing publicized. In the official notes and improvements that are published in online stores such as AppStore and PlayStore do not talk about the storage of photographs on their servers.

Necessarily remember this to the scandal associated with Cambridge Analytica and that, in turn, involves Facebook for more than 15 days. Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook, bought WhatsApp in 2014 for the large sum of 2,000 million euros. This did not please the European authorities too much and has brought consequences.
