WhatsApp has finally released a new feature that allows users to open one WhatsApp account on up to 4 phones simultaneously. This means that the WhatsApp number you use can now be logged in to more than one device.
"We are expanding our multi-device offerings by introducing the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones," said WhatsApp in a release received by kumparan TECH. WhatsApp stated that the introduction of this feature is due to the high demand from users who want to link one WhatsApp account to more than one mobile device.
With the new feature, users can now open one WhatsApp account on up to 4 phones simultaneously, just like using WhatsApp on a web browser, tablet, or desktop. Each linked phone will be connected to WhatsApp independently to ensure that personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted.
However, it should be noted that if the primary device is inactive for a long enough period, the WhatsApp account will automatically log out of the other linked devices.
"The linked phones will become companion devices, making it much easier to send messages. Now you can switch between multiple phones without logging out, and you can continue your last chat immediately," said WhatsApp.
"Or if you are a small business owner, your employees can now directly respond to customer messages from their phones using the same WhatsApp Business account."
The feature has been launched to WhatsApp users worldwide and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
