What's wrong with the new WhatsApp Web?

Hi all

So a few years ago I found out that one could use WhatsApp on the web browser so I gave it a try. Needless to say, I was rather intrigued to have a backup for my WhatsApp chats in case my phone battery went flat.

And so I get to my computer, open Chrome, and navigate to https://web.whatsapp.com. I was happy to see the browser chat populated with my WhatsApp messages, and when I sent a message on the browser it was automatically synced to my phone messages in real-time. It was such a happy surprise until my phone died and the browser automatically logged me out. It was then that I realized that this online version of WhatsApp was still in its early stages.

Fast-forward a few years Facebook releases the beta version of their WhatsApp product which worked independently of one's phone. It worked perfectly! I was so relieved that they finally got round to it.

They soon released an official version of the product. However, there's a problem. I was prompted to log in again when I opened my computer one day. So I do the whole QR code thing and to my surprise, the thing doesn't retrieve all my previous messages. I was so upset because there was a lot of business-related data on those messages.

My data has been in this irretrievable state for days. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
