Why am I here on steem @snookmademedoit asks...Good question and one that has a fairly simple answer. I'd love to be able to write something sage and impactful as others have done however I can't so I'll just write what happened and hope you don't fall asleep reading it.

Bitcoin...Is not why I am here. In fact cryptocurrency didn't attract me to the blockchain at all. I had heard about it of course, but didn't know anything about magical internet money or how it worked; In fact at first it sort of scared me a little, or maybe it was the fact I was ignorant that scared me? Having said that, it is one of the reasons I am still here of course, like most of us.

Decentralised platform...Is not why I am here. Again, I had no idea what it was, how it worked or how it may be of benefit to me. Ignorance raises its ugly head again. Although, the decentralised nature of it is also one of the reasons I am still here.

My brother introduced me to steem and the world of blogging. I'll be honest, I didn't even know what blog meant at the time - Shameful huh? I'm an analogue guy mostly though. You're probably thinking it is the indomitable @tarazkp I refer to when I say brother however despite him actually being my brother, I in fact refer to my other brother who choses to maintain anonymity on steem which is why I won't mention him. He spoke to me about it first.

@tarazkp soon added his weight to the argument of why I should be here and I soon came on board. OK, that's a lie...It took over 6 months for him to convince me...I guess because it all sounded too good to be true and being the pragmatist I am...Well, I was skeptical of course.

I'm a bit embarrassed about my first post...I look back now and can see that a different me wrote it; Same, but different...And steem is responsible for the change, for the better I hope too. Here it is

But why am I here...Why do I stay?

Well, it's certainly not because the massive monetary rewards which, to date, have been nonexistent. Yes, I can see some potential gain in the future if things go that way. But again, the pragmatist in me tends not to work in possible's and maybe's.

I'm still here because of you.

That's right folks...It's the engagement from you that keeps me here, your excellent posts too. Sure, I like to write also, and find a great deal of enjoyment and relaxation in doing so but I could find that by writing off-platform too so it's not the reason I write here.

It's the comments you leave that keep me here, the dialogues we engage in, on your topics and mine, that I enjoy the most. I value that so much as it breathes life into my posts, makes them more vibrant than my simple words ever could. I value them so much and feel very strongly that my interest would wane should they not continue. You posts and comments also teach me many things and as a voracious seeker of knowledge where better to get it from? Facebook? Yeah right...Not! This is my only social media and I like it that way.

Sharing my thoughts, creativity, knowledge and bringing you along with me on vacations and throughout my day to day life in general gives me a lot of enjoyment and I rarely feel like it is difficult to do - I always have something to say even if that something is a rant like the last post I put up earlier today. The comments you leave, provided they are respectful, bring me a great deal of enjoyment and I'm thankful to each and every one of you for engaging with me.

I know this post is probably not as great as others I've read on this challenge but it's why I'm here and so there's not much else to say. I'm thankful to my brothers who have nagged me to be here, and to the community as a whole as it is a place I enjoy a great deal. Thank you also to yourself, yes you, for having read this far and for your engagement.
