Hello Irish Whiskey Fan,
Are you looking for a warm and snug winter's drink?! Please see two wonderful recipes for two of my favourite hot drinks, involving whiskey!
What do these wonderful drinks look like?
Please see the photo below: A Hot Whiskey on the left, an Irish Coffee on the right, this photo was taken in Lowry’s pub in Clifden, Connemara, Galway, Ireland. http://www.lowrysbar.ie/
Hot Whiskey: Preparation time – 3 minutes
Ingredients
• A generous measure of Irish Whiskey, such as Jameson
• 5 or 6 cloves
• Half a slice of lemon
• 1 teaspoon of sugar
• Boiling water – I recommend using 3 or 4 times as much water as whiskey.
How to make it:
- Use a glass with a stem or handle.
- Cut a thin half moon slice of fresh lemon.
- Pierce the flesh of the lemon with the cloves, and then place in the glass.
- Add a teaspoon of sugar to the glass; and leave the teaspoon in the glass (this will stop the glass from cracking when the boiling water is added).
- Pour a generous measure of Irish Whisky into the glass. Tip – use a shot glass for measure.
- Stir with the spoon, remove the spoon and enjoy!
Irish Coffee: Preparation time – 10 minutes
Ingredients
• Irish Whiskey, such as Jameson
• Heavy fresh cream, slightly whipped.
• 1 small cup of good quality freshly ground coffee
• 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
How to make it:
- Use a glass with a stem or handle
- Place a teaspoon in the glass.
- Fill with boiling water to pre-heat the glass, then pour out the water
- Fill the glass to ¾ full with hot fresh coffee
- Stir 1 teaspoon of brown sugar until it dissolves.
- Add a generous measure of Irish Whisky into the glass. Tip – use a shot glass for measure.
- Top with the heavy cream by pouring the cream gently over the back of a spoon.
- Enjoy this warm taste of Ireland!
I hope these 2 recipes were helpful, let me know how you get on!
