I have posted these before but I can't get enough of these miniature lilies. The Nerine family are found only in rocky parts of Southern Africa and Nerine rehmanni is the smallest of them. It flowers in Summer and it is a very common flower on the hillside at this time of year. Each flower is about the size of a pinky fingernail and it's easy to miss when not in flower, it has a small hairy bulb and a couple of slender leaves.

I never thought it was a lily. Such tiny. Africa is a wonderland.

It is a strange place

Super!

Such delicate little beauties.

Miniatures of the big fancy florist lilies

Speaking of lilies, I know they aren't technically lilies but I discovered some very exotic daylily websites at Christmas. There is such an amazing variety in colours, shapes, ruffles and sizes. I had no idea.

In this case don't judge a book by it's cover. May look delicate but plenty tough. Like Scary Mary.
