I was lucky enough to spot this gorgeous specimen of a rare, by some accounts endangered, mariposa lily. It's a native to the foothill woodlands of California, and it fills me with joy whenever I spot one. I am happy to say that it is a perennial bulb plant, so it is sure to reappear this time next year.

May you dwell in love, kindness, peace, and joy.

Love,Cat

Oh so lovely!

Thanks! "Mariposa" means "butterfly" in Spanish. Perhaps you would also enjoy this post from the same trip: https://steemit.com/photography/@creationofcare/indra-swallowtail

It was a great day for a nature hike! I had a bobcat encounter (another post on my blog including video, if you are interested), plus a hummingbird checked me out face to face so close I thought he was going to tap on my glasses!

I'm going to check it out right now! I live right next to a trail and snakes, bobcats and coyotes love making surprise appearances to keep me awake on my walks haha

Snakes, bobcats, and coyotes, oh my! I see the latter pretty often, but bobcats seem to be more shy, or hide better ;) thanks so much for commenting and voting!
