The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)
As I said in a previous post, this squirrel tore the moss and carried it into hers hollow. At first, she was afraid of me, after all, this is a wild squirrel, not used to people. But realizing that I was not dangerous, she set to work again. Having taken the moss, she deftly ran across the fallen tree and jumped to another in which it was hollow.
In winter, squirrels sleep all the time in their hollow, so it is very important to warm it well, because frosts in Siberia are very cruel.
But sometimes squirrels in winter have to crawl out of their homes to eat. They feed on their stocks, which they managed to do before winter. Or, if they are lucky, they will ravage stocks of other squirrels, small rodents or birds.
