Microsoft announced last year when it would actually block application updates via the Windows Store for Windows Phone 8.x and Windows 8.x. According to the instructions of the Redmond company, all Windows Phone 8.x devices would have stopped receiving application updates from next July 1, 2019, while for Windows 8.x devices the life of the applications would have been extended to July 1, 2023. All however it seems to have changed.

Microsoft, in fact, seems to have changed its message to users. Here is the Redmond home that Windows 8 devices will stop receiving updates for their applications at the same time as Windows Phone 8.x on July 1, 2019. Unlike instead devices with Windows 8.1 that will continue to receive updates until next month of July 2023.
An important change for users and for the home of Microsoft, which should not be too surprising given that Windows 8 is used today in a very low percentage compared to other versions and above all compared to Windows 8.1. Users who use Windows 8 are probably not many in number and this has changed Microsoft's programs.
In fact, all those who today continue to use Windows 8 will not be able to receive updates of their applications from the Microsoft Windows Store from next July 1st 2019. A choice probably also made to encourage the transition to Windows 10 where the Redmond company is investing all its strength. At this point, for all those who still have a device with Windows 8, the suggestion is to upgrade to the new Windows 10 so that they can receive future updates of the various applications even within security.
