Orange wine from Georgia. It is prepared according to the Kvevri technology from the grapes of the variety Khikhvi.
Aroma cloudberry and unripe apricot. In the taste of cloudberry, peach, straw, melissa. Very powerful and tannic wine (merit Kvevri)
My rating 3,9/5,0
Kvevri is a ceramic product, which can be called a jug or amphora. It really looks like an amphora, but it has one important difference - the amphora implies the presence of two handles, and the Kvevri do not have such handles.
The production of wine in Kvevri is a method of making wine known since antiquity. About 5,000 years ago, this method spread from the Caucasus region around the world. The oldest clay jugs found in Georgia are about 7,000 years old and they are very similar to today's Kvevri.
Cool - I have had Georgia orange wine and US-made orange wine and wasn’t a fan. One fun thing I experience with the Georgian wine - tasting it out of an 100-year-old ceramic bowl.
