THE GOOD WINE

1. On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
2. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “THEY HAVE NO WINE.”
3. Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
4. His mother said to the servants, “WHATEVER HE SAYS TO YOU, DO IT.”
5. Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
6. Jesus said to them, “FILL THE WATERPOTS WITH WATER.” And they filled them up to the brim.
7. And He said to them, “DRAW SOME OUT NOW, AND TAKE IT TO THE MASTER OF THE FEAST.” And they took it.
8. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
9. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. YOU HAVE KEPT THE GOOD WINE UNTIL NOW!”

• "Whatever He says to you, do it."
Mary said whatever Jesus says should be done.
IF you are still going to Mary for instructions, she has directed everyone to Jesus, and whatever Jesus says should be done.

• They have no wine!

• You may have run out of wine in any area of your life: marriage, career, business, academic pursuit, spiritual life, or Whatever; Jesus is willing to give you a good wine.

• Significance of wine

• Wine energizes, It is a stimulant.
• Wine symbolizes unction to function.
• Your spiritual or physical energy might have gone, Jesus will give you fresh power, unction or energy to do whatever you are assigned to do.
• Stimulus, ability, enablement, power or unction which you may have lost is restored in Jesus' name.

• The condition for a good or new wine.

• The condition for getting a new wine is in being obedient to His words, what He says—obeying Him to the letter: "YOU ARE MY FRIENDS IF YOU DO WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU" (John 15:14).
• Whatever He says to be done should be done without any compromise.
• It is the doing of His Word, instructions given by Him, that guarantees a new wine.
  [a] Jesus said to them: "FILL THE WATERPOTS WITH WATER" (John 2:7a).
  RESPONSE: "And they filled them up to the brim" (John 2:7b)
  [b] And He said to them: “DRAW SOME OUT NOW, AND TAKE IT TO THE MASTER OF THE FEAST" (John 2:8a).
  RESPONSE: "And they took IT" (John 2:8b).

• What are the Lessons:

• Jesus has the authority to command water to fill the empty WATERPOTS without asking anyone to fill them, He however did not do that.
  IF Jesus commanded water to fill the WATERPOTS, then turns it to wine, without putting water in the pots; It would be contrary to God's principle.
• God commanded increase and replenishment (Genesis 1:28).
  JESUS did multiply bread and fish to feed thousands of people (Luke 9:16,17).
  HE did not turn the stone to bread as the devil suggested (Luke 4:3).
• The pattern suggested by the devil is magical, while God's pattern is miraculous.
• Magic has no source, but miracle has—God is the source of miracles.
• Turning stone to bread is magical while multiplication of bread is a miracle.
  JESUS is a miracle worker not a magician!
• God commanded multiplication and replenishment (Genesis 1:28).
  HE created male and female of all the creatures, put seeds in the fruits of the plants, and did command increase and replenishment.
• God told Noah to preserve male and female of every creature before the flood, and the creatures preserved have grown to billions in the world today—both humans and other creatures (Genesis 6:19-22).
• God's pattern is that you fill your pots with water, and then you draw out (John 2:7,8).
  “FILL THE WATERPOTS WITH WATER" was the instruction.
  “DRAW SOME OUT NOW" was the action.

• Applications:

• You would need to provide water for Jesus to work with in your life.
• God wants to bless you, albeit, you have to cooperate with Him and do your own part in order to work out His miracle.
  IF a student would Excel in his or her academic pursuit, such has to be studious and God will bless their efforts.
  A STUDENT who wants to Excel would not only pray without doing the needful.
• Someone who needs financial turn around would need to lay hands on something, before his or her efforts could be blessed by God.
• If the WATERPOTS are not filled with WATER, there would be no good wine.
  JESUS will work with what you have with you!

• Lay your hands on something.

• Whatever you are inspired or commanded to lay your hands on to do: Jesus will come by, help you in it, and multiply it.
• Acting on Jesus' words: It is not enough to start something, It has to be done by faith, "FOR WHATEVER IS NOT FROM FAITH IS SIN (Romans 14:23).
• Take a step on whatever He has laid in your heart to do, that you may move forward in life.
• If you had a vision or dream to expand what you are doing secularly, or to further your education, or to move up in your spiritual life, or to advance in your ministerial assignment, or whatever, you should go ahead and take a step NOW.
  IT is the time to move forward!

• Instructions and obedience
THOSE servants did not argue with Jesus They simply acted on His words As Mary had told them (John 2:5).

• Stop arguing with the Holy Spirit about the vision impressed in your heart and how it would be actualized.
  WHATEVER He says to do, do!
• Do not be myopic, and do not reduce God to the size of your brain.
• God WHO has given the vision will work it out, all you need is to follow As He leads.
• God usually begins with what is made available and through it works out or produce the most amazing things.
• You supply the water and God will turn it to wine!

• "YOU HAVE KEPT THE GOOD WINE UNTIL NOW!” (John 2:10).

• The best is reserved for the end!
  YOU are getting a good and better wine than the one exhausted in Jesus' name.
  YOU are getting a better partner than the one who jilted and disappointed you in Jesus' name.
  YOU are getting good and better grades in your next examination, and you are moving to the next level in Jesus' name.
  WHATEVER has finished in your Life, business or career, shall be replenished in Jesus' name.
  FOR every loss God is giving you double in Jesus' name:
  "INSTEAD OF YOUR SHAME THERE SHALL BE A DOUBLE PORTION; instead of dishonour they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy" (Isaiah 61:7 ESVUK).
