KLYE Witness Update #2 - 2016/09/30

in witness-category •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hail fellow STEEM Sloths! This is the second of many weekly witness updates.
(Every friday I'll make a witness post highlighting my current STEEM witness progress)

This Week as STEEM Network Witness in Brief

This week was a bit slower than last week with fewer updates to report containing far less exciting news. My apologies! At the beginning of the week I'd initially received word back from the Coinpayments.net administrator that they'd begun implementation of the STEEM wallet into their systems to extend payment gateway support to woocommerce/wordpress for the SteemDollar (SBD) currency as well as our STEEM network tokens.

Construction continues on the steem.global news site / seed node project with major changes hopefully implemented over the course of the upcoming week to improve user experience and ease of information access to matters pertaining to our network and her inhabitants.

News also broke earlier this week that a highly reputation ranked account had started plagiarizing artwork from other social media networks and was attempting to pass off the illustrations as thier own. The community has since then been alerted to the potential of high reputation accounts "going rogue" and the accused has issued an apology post.

Waiting on Word Back From Coinpayments.net Admin

While confirmation was given last week that well known woocommerce payment gateway Coinpayments.net had started implementing our wallet in order to provide SBD / STEEM acceptance on their site, as of writing this post I've received no word of reply in regards to the status of this undertaking on there end. Earlier today correspondence was sent inquiring about an estimated time of implementation of our currencies onto their platform but unfortunately no reply has been sent yet.

When more information on the progress is given I'll be sure to relay it on my blog for the STEEM community.
Originally their admin had estimated it would be done the end of this week, so hopefully we see this happen.

UPDATE: The Coinpayments.net admin just replied to my email, see below:

steem.global News / Seed node Updates Started

Last week I announced the launch of http://steem.global which serves as a STEEM seed node and news site. Unfortunately I was unable to put the time I would have liked to put into it this week but I've found some time this weekend to start getting the site fully operational and get some STEEM Network News rolling for those interested. This is an ongoing project and hopefully within the next few months the site will move out of the online beta and become a hub of STEEM news.

If you're an investigative journalist who enjoys staying on top and reporting breaking stories and news on the STEEM network please feel free to get in contact with me if you'd like to contribute to the site.

(Site may be unavailable briefly this week as I update some things)

Helping Uncover High Reputation Content Thieves

It was brought to my attention by @walden and other members of the steemitabuse-classic team that a highly reputable account on our network had posted artwork from a well known twitter artist & claimed that he'd created the image. While most accounts in our community are lower reputation than the account brought into light by the accusations and most refused to get involved out of fear of revenge flagging, it was decided by myself that someone had to make this story public.

While I entirely commend the fact that as a community we were able to detect, call out and in the end seemingly come to a proper understanding from all parties involved.. It has got to be mentioned that with this incident we've likely only just uncovered the tip of the iceberg in regards to users farming reputation with well written original content then opting to take the "easy way" out and pilfer others work under the guise of their own for profits.

Hopefully in the future we see less plagiarism & more honest effort from this user to create original content.

Weekly Witness Ranking Overview

Since starting the witness campaign roughly 2 weeks ago breaking into the ranks around 65 and falling slightly to hover around 67 earlier in the week. As of writing this post backed by support from the STEEM community my witness has managed to climb to rank 55. Thank you to all of those who have taken the time out of their day to support my witness campaign in the form of witness votes, word of mouth praise of the campaign in the chats and the great feedback I've received from STEEM users from all over the planet.

Without community support my witness campaign is nothing more than a wasted energy.
Cheers to all those that have voted me as witness so far, to all those who haven't read below!

I'm glad that folks like you with made skills are using them to help steemit progress.

I only got original material skills, like grabbing Snapping turtles by the throat and getting bit in the lip by snakes multiple times... perhaps one day...

Your support and love is humbling papa-pepper. <3

While I admit the learning curve has been steep and plenty of confusion and stress has been had.. It looks like not only is my witness rank gaining traction.. but also the spread of the "help the network" mentality as well!

Which is far more exciting to me than gaining witness rank. Folks joining together to achieve goals is wonderful.

Eventually once I break into the top 50 it will serve as proof that anyone can be a successful witness if they apply themselves and have an honest desire to help STEEM grow and prosper.

<3 KLYE

ROCK ON!

or

STEEM ON!

       if you prefer.

Not the witness Steem wants, but the witness Steem needs.

When you running for witness bacchist?

Can give you a hand if you need sir. <3

I set up an AWS instance with 36 cpus to mine and I couldn't find a single pow2.

Mining is unfeasible at t he moment due to the 2 or 3 folks who seemingly have gpu miners.

If you want to mine SP to your account the only feasible way at the moment is running as witness.

Well if I thought there was a chance, I might consider it. I don't even think I could crack the top 50.

Up-voted you as a witness. You deserve it!

Thank you kindly norb! Every vote counts.

nice work

Cheers man. Same to you as well. :)

congratulations, I appreciate what you do for the community

Thanks for taking the time to tell me this.

I reckon you will break into that top fifty in no time man and then keep on moving up. You always have my support!

You've always been a supporter and I completely recognize that.. You're awesome meester. :D

Straight back atcha!! :0)

we've likely only just uncovered the tip of the iceberg in regards to users farming reputation with well written original content then opting to take the "easy way" out and pilfer others work under the guise of their own for profits.

It's bizarre that people want to do this, if someone has built up a rep for original content, it blows my mind that they would ruin that in this way. I saw the original work from the account in question; and I just thought, why man? Why!?

Cg

Seems people get a bit of reputation and following behind them.. Then they proceed to switch to laziness and thievery once they run out of originality or simply stop giving a damn about what people think of them.. :/

cool

I missed your http://steem.global announcement -> fixed!
Look great! Well done.
Keep witnessing.

Thanks arcange! It's been a pretty steady nearly month of learning for me. :)

Great news on making progress toward your witness goal. Well done. Also appreciate your anti-plagiarism efforts.
