Thanks :)

No prob:))

Stay awesome and keep up the good work:))

Does what you do as a witness have any ability to fight the ddos attack and the recent poor site performance (which might be related)? Or is that outside the scope of the witness job?

The "DDOS" attack was on the website steemit.com and not the blockchain.

Witnesses help secure the blockchain and don't have any impact on the website. During the attacks (or whatever issue it really was) the blockchain performed perfectly and was working at full capacity.

You can see this in action during outages by visiting busy.org and how it runs at 100% effectiveness during steemit.com outages. Both steemit.com and busy.org are just front ends to the steem blockchain.

This makes it difficult to recruit new people when I have to tell them to go elsewhere to post - a sticking point I don't really understand. But thank you for telling me that witnesses have nothing to do with steemit. I did not understand that. I'm hanging on by a technical thread :)

From what I hear, they are working on it and when the caching layer gets implemented, there should be a big improvement. Hopefully.

I hope so - I also fight dismal wifi - so lately it's one or the other or both driving me crazy!

Bad wifi makes things much worse as many of the features of Steemit (like a memo for transfer) seem to make round trips to the server for every character sent. As the site is already slow, this causes exponential performance problems on mobile.

Oh! That might be knocking me out then. Yikes. That makes sense to the problems I'm having. I have also got Pinterest causing similar trouble. Luckily I am not easily deterred or upset. But when it's getting to me - everyone else is already going nuts!
