The job description of a backup witness is to produce blocks reliably and without hickups.
Over the past 2 years we have seen many witnesses pop up and then close down.
One of the issues is the fact that running a witness server costs money.
It isn't FREE!
Even if it is an old PC in someones backyard shed with a used UPS (or maybe not) it still consumes electricity!
So there is definitely no free lunch!
As some already know and some may not know, I have prepaid my server lease for 12 months. That today = through Feb 2020.
So, money is not a topic.
It is all paid for in advance and as such shall not "vanish" when the value of Steem drops.
Simple as that.
The projects that I am working on are now moving forwards in accordance with the changes that we have seen over the past few months.
That is all I am going to say on that topic.
Don't want to waste your time with any self promotion or "used car salesman pitches", the above is enough to clearly state my stand on some topics. Simple as that.

I agree. I also think of it in terms of a business. Like the price of Nike stock, it's price is determined by the value the market is willing to pay for it, but their product has an affect on the value potential investors will place on the stock. Eventually, Nike has to start making shoes, or making them well. For currencies, it's the same thing. At this stage, investors are banking on the potential that the currency will be in use in the future. I think we Steemians can make that happen by offering to pay Steem for goods and services and by accepting Steem for our goods and services. That will give a strong indication of future viability of the coin.
