What benefits did the micro-credit bring to our rural women?
There is a wide variety of debate about whether poverty rates have decreased due to micro-credit. Secondly. Whether it has played an important role in empowering women. These are two but different questions. In this case, we have a benefit that we have been studying it for 20 years in Bangladesh. Research has been done on the same people for 20 years. There we have seen, many have been able to come out of poverty. Women who came under micro-finance, they were able to make much more decisions in the world than before. But there are some limitations in it. It has been found that the financial participation of women under micro-finance is limited to livestock and poultry. So 20 years later, we see that the participation of these women remains in those works. To increase the participation of women in different types of work, in keeping with the market system. A survey has found that there are a large section of women in rural areas who are interested in working as entrepreneurs. Those who sell their products with the local market. The new challenge for small loans is that the entrepreneurs identify the women in training, by increasing their work, by giving them new opportunities to create new possibilities.
How much has the impact of small loans on women empowerment?
The matter is, how much we can inform women about this or do they deliver these information to them? Besides, an association with entrepreneur women can be formed. So collectively they can talk to the banks. It is not possible for a woman alone living in the village to go to the bank to collect these information or take out the process of borrowing. Women Entrepreneurs can be encouraged to create organizations by giving different facilities to the government. But this kind of initiative has been taken in India. A link between women and entrepreneurs has been created, they are easily borrowing through it. Through it, it is possible to make professional-conscious awareness among these women. Children's care centers can be established by the organization.
How can women be given importance in the plan?
There is a saying in the economy that the 'Infant Industry Argument' When a country's policy makers think that a specific industry has to provide a variety of support for a period of time. The government can determine the program based on this theory. Regardless of the country's many limitations, the programs taken by the government are of great importance. If the government is committed to increase the participation of women in the next phase, it is possible to increase the participation of women overall. The government can take various measures by encouraging women to increase their participation in economic activities, strengthening women's safety in roads and vehicles, encouraging organizations to hire many women workers. These issues are considered. These issues can be emphasized. Men order, women do it, around us there is such a model. How to increase the participation of women at the higher level of the organization, I do not think there is a simple answer to this question. There are many men who are afraid of the idea that a female boss is on them and they are ordering their male staff members. Rather than stressing on how to increase the participation of women at high level, it is important to think of increasing the combined participation of all to decide on the workplace.
With such an environment, the practice of our decision making will change. We usually use the word 'Mindset'. Basically it's our 'habit of mind, habit of mentality'. Our habits have come to a new practice session. We can change these habits by respecting each other. I can not do this as a woman - it should not be a thought of anyone. Through hard work, we are all capable of doing any work. In China, studies have shown that the economic condition of women in which the women are earning is comparatively better, and women do not earn any income, they have more poverty in families.
How can we succeed in fulfilling SDG?
If we talk about SDG's 17 targets, then we will see that women are being tortured. Of these, the sustainable development targets are at number 5, "gender equality and ensuring the empowerment of daughters and women". Bangladeshi women are being victim of a kind of 'hidden' torture. According to various surveys, the number of victimization of women in the family has decreased, but the rate at the public place increased. If we talk about two different targets of SDG, then there is a connection between one and the other.
So if we can not suppress women's incidents of violence or oppression in the public place, then we can not demand women to take 100 percent of their work. If we do not count or value women's unpaid jobs, do not support them, even then women's position will not change. Every topic is important to meet the SDG target. Other targets are not possible without excluding one.
