After spending 3 hours at Lowe’s with the kitchen designer and leaving with a sticker shock estimate, we grabbed a quick lunch and went shopping for snacks and drinks for the concert.
The kids from Music Camp as openers #1
A quick stop home to pack things in the cooler, grab the camera and tickets and we were off. We were a bit late arriving at The Pines Theater at Look Park, but still got excellent lawn seats, and the kids were just taking the stage.
They had said no food and drinks to be brought in, but the security was pretty lax and we were able to enjoy our food.
The kids from Music Camp as openers #2
The kids from Music Camp did 2 songs and got a good round of applause. This was the lineup:

Banners and posters I think the kids made
The kids had a blast right from the beginning. There was a family next to us and they had a little red haired girl, about age 4, and she and friends were tearing up and down the walkways.
The bigger kids were, of course, up on the tower walls.
The first few bands were ok but the audience did not really respond until Sha Na Na (The Donut Kings) came on. They were really good, high energy and people started to dance in front of the stage.
Each band did 2 or 3 songs and by the time Sha Na Na finished the audience was primed.
My favorite is a local group called Young@Heart, a group of age 70+ men and women who perform all over the country, doing different kinds of music.
Some of the other bands we liked were Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCRUD), Sly and the Family Stone (Jon Carroll & Brave Soul), Grateful Dead (gundy +MCB) and Jefferson Airplane (Kate Lorenz & The Constellations).
We stayed to the end and left during the Jimi Hendrix set, as it was so loud, we could hear it clearly all the way to the car, and in the car with the windows up!
I stayed in my chair and just chair danced. Wednesday I was completely wiped out. But it was a great time and the first concert of this kind I’ve been to in over 20 years.
