Pie Crust Tea Table — Beading the Legs

in woodworking •  7 years ago

The legs needed some detail, so I put my beading plane to use.

According to the instructions, you are not supposed to use this crossgrain. I did get a bit of tearout, but nothing I cannot repair.

The tool is too big to get around the tight curves so I took the blade out and finished by hand.

Until all three were done.

In case anybody is wondering, even though the curvature on each leg is different, the height and spread of each is identical.

Next time, I turn the center spindle.

Sweet!

Nice. It's coming along. That beading plane is neat, I've never used one.

I give it a B minus. Well made but the fence is clumsy, hard to adjust.

Nice fine beading. Looks refined.

It gives a good effect, make the curves seem purposeful. Thanks.
