Ever have a manager or co worker give you a backhanded compliment where they say good job. But ... And they do it in front of your whole team.
Feels like the air is let out of your balloon and the recognition you deserve is no longer there.
Well - It says more about the character of the person than it does about your work - as long as the job you did was the best you could do - you win.
In most cases it is because they feel threatened by others who do better than they do or they don’t like not being the centre of attention.
Chances are - They have no idea they are being jerks. They just open their mouths and out it pops or they hit send without assessing how their comments will be perceived.
