It is such a misery if you have to drag your physical body to work when your mind says “no, I quit!”. While you are taking a shower or eating breakfast, negative thoughts starts to well up from within and then the negativity goes along until you hit to work.
If you dread your work every single day. It is just another way of saying to yourself that you need to pick up your things and resign. However, you just realized that you have just been hired a month ago and it is quite impossible at this time to be blunt at your boss that you had picked the wrong career.
Now, you feel stuck and boxed in as if there’s no way out of this.
You might be thinking of fleeing away without noticing the management but that would not be wise idea if you are planning to apply for another job.
Resenting the situations that go along with your work is like working with shackles on . That would be miserable which then could lead you to emotional and mental distress.
However, there are still things you can do to make you feel better at least while putting up with the wrong environment you are in. These are what you are going to do if you are at the brink of quitting at the wrong time.
JUST ACCEPT IT
Whether you like it or not, you have to work because there is no turning back. If you are going to fiddle the opportunity of getting hired such as fleeing away without proper notice , chances are, you will be facing negative consequences.
Having a bad impression on your employment history is not good at all and it will put you into lesser chances of finding a new job. Even if you will likely get hired on the spot, your employer will be asking for references of your previous employment and if you are going to exclude that previous work experience, the human resource department will be wondering what have you been doing for the past months or years. Therefore, it is not a good idea to burn bridges.
BE GRATEFUL INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING
While you have been hired , someone out there is kicking off a tin can along the pavement, broke and unemployed. Not all people are getting hired on the job they are applying for. And not all companies you have been sending your resume into would hire you immediately.
Before wishing to quit on your current job, think about all the sacrifices you put on the job hunting and the costs that incurred you to do so.
Regardless of how much you make per month from your job, your salary and benefits are possibly better than the one who earns less than they actually need. You might have been paid on time while others are crying out because of delayed salary. Be grateful enough.
Furthermore, the most job opportunities would prefer hiring applicants with ongoing job. It would be smoother to embark on another opportunity if you will be honest to both sides.
Instead of fiddling your employment status and quit, just accept it and learn to put up with the miserable working environment. It is better that way as long as the job you have right now is NOT putting a toll on your health.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PERKS
You may resent your work right now, but there could be still perks of being into that job at least. It can be good colleagues , big salary, incentives, paid vacations or any other advantages you can get.
Not all jobs have the same benefits but these can at least move your spirit to get up for work. Just let the disadvantages pass by like a flowing river and get along with it. Exploit as much of the perks.
THINK IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
This applies to workers who are tied up on an employment contract.
Your job could be a 1 or 2-year contract. You just have to to let the days and months pass by.
One day, your job will come to an end before you even know it. Just try enjoying your job as long as you can without counting up the days or glancing at the calendar.
BE OPTIMISTIC
I know it can be hard to be optimistic if what you are getting everyday is misery such as getting told off or insulted by your boss, being harassed by your colleagues/ clients, and not having credits after you have put so much hardwork on the job.
There can be hundreds of reasons why you feel like quitting already. But by training your mind to see the good on the bad situations, you can learn invaluable lessons from the experience.
Instead of focusing on the negative side why not think about a certain goal you want to achieve to get yourself out of the misery. By doing this, you will be more driven to face your job. You will possibly come up with lots of ideas what to do on the side to smoothly resign one day.
It could be having a side hustle after work or forming a new skill that your future job requires in you.
You can start to do job-hunting and start to look around for another opportunity. And then you can plot steps on how to get there. This will give you some sort of warm feeling which you can look into whenever you feel miserable during the day.
Another way would be to think of the other side of the coin. Ruminate about the good things that happened at work if you did encounter them.
START PLANNING YOUR WAY OUT
This is relative to being optimistic.
Now you might have a list of possible opportunity from which you will be choosing to apply soon. Do something which make you a better candidate for getting hired. Study new stuff which your chosen path requires. Then you are good to go by the time you reach the perfect chance to resign.
It is better to have secret plans than not having at all.
SAVE. SAVE. SAVE.
Resenting your job while squandering your whole salary is ridiculous. It is like prolonging your agony at work much longer than you do.
If you think your current job is the worst mistake you ever have then might as well you’d better start to save money for your next move. How are you supposed to make a discreet application to other job opportunities if you do not have cash to fall back on?.
Having extra cash can serve as your safety net in case it will take much longer to find another job after resigning from your previous work.
Every time you feel like rewarding yourself for tolerating the misery at work, try curbing your spending habits and think of all your sacrifices you had to bear. In that way, you will be able to save more money and be more motivated at the same time.
You may be regretting to your self why you are on that position and why you realized you dislike the job too late. So it is likely for you to flee away and leave your job behind without prior notice.
However, doing so will only worsen your situation and create conflict between you and the employer. Burning bridges is not good especially you are going to need a referral from your previous job and positive work history. All of us are capable of creative thinking.
You can get through this if you just remain resilient at tough times and apply these simple wise methods to fight down negativity and thrive to be better.
