Most people don't even know how to deal with stress. In fact, most people don't even know what stress actually is, and those who do know what it is, still don't have any idea how to deal with it. This can leave people in a state of constant anxiety.


Stress is essentially a body's natural reaction to a threat or challenge. In a healthy, supportive environment, stress is a positive thing. It keeps us alert and ready to respond to challenges.

In a toxic environment, stress is anything but. It can be stressful, anxiety provoking, and downright destructive. For this reason, many people suffer from chronic, unrelenting stress.

Some people use alcohol or illegal drugs to self medicate. This leads to dependency. Others may abuse stimulants like caffeine.

In both instances, the brain is left depleted and unable to deal with future stressors. Over time, this can cause serious mental health issues.

In the workplace, there are several things we can do to develop resilience in the face of constant pressure and challenges.

We already know that creating our own success system is the best way to ensure we're on track. Now, we'll learn how to apply this knowledge and incorporate resilience building into our daily life.

Our own success systems are an intricate combination of all the different parts that make us successful. They are comprised of things like habits, rituals, behaviors, routines, and more.

When it comes to resilience, these same techniques can be used to create a unique set of habits and rituals that can help you become more resilient.

STEP 1: Identify the Situation

First things first, you need to identify what exactly is stressing you out. It's important to understand why the situation is causing stress. Once you know why you are stressed, you can begin to brainstorm possible solutions.

STEP 2: Prioritize Your Solutions

There are three primary components that you need to consider when identifying solutions:

  1. The Solution

  2. The Risks

  3. The Cost

The Solution

You need to look at what will actually work, and what won't. What might help, and what won't. What could backfire, and what won't.

Many people think that the answer to every problem is to make a big change, but this isn't always the case.

The more you test things out, the better you will get at identifying what works, what doesn't, and what could work better. The Risk

There are always risks associated with implementing any solution.

You might find something that is not as effective as you had hoped. This could end up being costly. The Cost

Once you have identified the best solution and taken the appropriate steps, you need to understand the cost associated with each decision. For example, you could decide to implement some major changes to your lifestyle, or you could take a break.
