The founding of the Church of Corinth was one of the most notable successes of Paul's second missionary journey, the Book of Acts relates that Paul, unlike what happened in Philippi and Thessalonica, preached in that city for a year and a half, and that many inhabitants of the city accepted the "good news."
But the numerous conversions to the Christian faith also brought their problems, many had not completely abandoned their pagan beliefs, and factions had been created in the spiritual community; for these reasons, the apostle Paul during his third missionary journey wrote the first epistle to the members of the corinthian church with the purpose of correct the community of heresies, that is, the teaching of the error, and warn them about the works of the flesh, a fact that was preventing many from accepting the new life in Christ and entering the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections.
Paul delved into the teachings of Jesus, and explained that the flesh and the spirit are inclinations of the mind; and that depending on how men choose, this spiritual fact leads them down to completely different paths.
To follow the path of Jesus is to follow the path of excellence, the path of mercy, the path of righteousness. But those who do not accept the gifts of Jesus and abandon themselves to the concupiscence should not be deceived.
That is why Paul in the first epistle warned about false conversions and that those who make the works of the flesh bear fruit do not belong to the spiritual body of Christ, and so with these words, he explained the fact:
"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.
