In a rare astronomical phenomenon .. The world awaits seeing the eclipse of the "bloody moon"

On Sunday, the world is expected to see the only lunar eclipse in 2019 when the earth's shadow falls on the moon, turning it into a reddish orange color.

The total eclipse of the moon is expected to be visible in the Western Hemisphere, Europe and the western part of Africa, as well as northern Russia.

If the weather is good, the lunar eclipse could attract about 2.8 billion people.

North Americans will have the best view of eclipses, appearing in the sky from 9:30 pm EST (02:36 GMT Monday).

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said this time it would be the first in three years in which North America could see a lunar eclipse.

European citizens will be able to see the eclipse at dawn on Monday.

This eclipse is called the "bloody moon", since the color of the moon will be orange-red to reddish during the eclipse.

The moon's color change is due to the diffusion of small atoms, which make up the earth's atmosphere of blue, as the sun passes through it, leaving most of the red color.
