A world without money

I want to take you on a journey...

Nowadays we're all about nine to five jobs. Considering it as some kind of fulfillment to our existence. At least for average 70 years. This fact tells you one important thing: Money rules you.
When it comes to money, it somehow defines who you are and what privileges you get from it. The most of us here probably do the "middle-class"-thing (also known as working class). You get out of your comfy bed everyday to get the money you need to sustain your own class. Buying groceries, new clothes, a tv and have some decent restaurant visits every then and now.

We just swallow it, because we work hard to do so. But still there are a lot of people who can't work (due to medical condition for instance) or are unemployed or even homeless. There is no opportunity to spending money on stuff we actually just don't need. But this is not the only additional class we have in our so beloved financial system. These two classes serve actually another class. These classes sustain the lifestyle of the wealthy-class.
The will never worry about the next rent, can buy the best food, go on pretty amazing trips or concerts.

When you've read so far, you probably found yourself in one of these classes. Its not meant to be offensive or else. Its just stating the facts and the situation we're all in right now!

The most of us will never be able to achieve the status "wealthy". You get born in one of these three classes. Maybe you will lift your status, maybe you fall. But going up is much harder and can possibly take a very long time and outdate you.
Usually you end up with that what your parents do for a living. The middle-class will never worry so much about it. Never complain so much that the wealthy-class has so much benefits.. but the middle-class dreams of course.. what a world would it be if we wouldn't have to worry about the next year, month or even day?

While this is happening, the low-class is in a lot of trouble. For myself.. I'm in it right now. I'm not struggling.. I still get enough money to survive and have a roof above my head. I have a social system behind my back that catches me if I fall. But for the most its not the case. Low-class describes you as worthless. These people are the ones who have to turn every cent and look close enough on the price-tags. No matter if its just a banana or socks.
These class is the one worrying if they can bring food to the table or pay the rent in the following month.

This is the world we life in. This is in what we believe. This is good enough.

An interesting fact about our system "capitalism". There is only one way and that is up. It will climb, climb, climb, up all the way of the ladder, like there is no tomorrow and no ending in sight. At a certain point it can't climb any further. Thats when we speak about a financial depression. When nothing is worth anything. This happened several times in the past 100 years. We produce more than we need, because some people of the earths population want to get more and more and more money on the shoulders of the working class. But no one buys all that stuff. Thats the problem.

This leads to one simple point: One class carries the other one above it. The higher classes depend on the lower classes. Then there is the middle-class.. they don't want to lose their status. To do so, they need the low-class, that will almost do every shitty job that there is.

Now we all should share the same understanding about our system. Lets get to the juicy part of a world without money:

I think that the four words "a world without money" sets off some strange thoughts in anyone of you. Some cannot imagine it. Politics, the world we know.. all that doesn't fit in this thought. But for this there is a good quote from a famous movie (Matrix):

"The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? >Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these >people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are >not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to >protect it."

Recall this quote and what it means in your head. Aren't we actually doing that? We protect our working system without any doubt and questioning it. Let me throw another quote at you from another well known movie (Fightclub):

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. >God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars >and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No >purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is >our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock >stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."

What if.. that all wouldn't be necessary, because our system is totally fair? Making us full equal and not just a member of a species that got lucky in some point of evolution?

So to give you a better understanding what actually is meant, I have a simple example for you guys:

Imagine a poor country, placed in the "Third world". We can assume that these people there are more than poor (for our understanding). In our imaginary country is a guy who owns some goats. To survive somehow, he started to sell the milk from these goats in his area.

Thats perfect. It even makes him somehow a little wealthy. But this example shows the world we're also living in, just with lower standards. But then.. suddenly trouble is ahead:

We have a businessman from an imaginary country of the "first world". His company is good at selling milkpowder all across the continent. So now the businessman wants to expand and sees an opportunity. He wants some more money.
He come across the area where our beloved goatowner lives and has his business.
For the businessman its a country he probably never heard of and he will never visit.

Without bad intentions the businessman goes to work and starts selling that cheap milkpowder in that area. Thats actually super bad for our goatowner. Since that milkpowder is much cheaper than goatmilk, no one will buy the milk from the goatowner anymore. And there he goes down. Destroyed by a man he never knew, never will know.

Actually this is a real story. A European-Businessman started to sell milkpowder in an African nation and destroyed literally everyone who sold milk for a living.

Well.. if the businessman can do that, its his right. Yes. Its his damn right, there is nothing to discuss about it. Right?

That businessman will have nice trips, dinners, beautiful women (or men). No worry what comes next. We cannot say that about our poor owner of goats. Even dreaming of it is expensive.

Now it gets reaaaal tasty. How would that situation look like in a world without money?

Money is doing this to us: Make us ignorant and putting the spot on "me FIRST!!!"

So. We still have our Goatman.. gifting people with free milk. Because there is no need to have money.

In this story we’re still with our goatowner. Gifting people with free milk. Because there is no need for cash.

We also still have our businessman who throws around with milkpowder. Now the businessman sees the area of that goatowner and thinks "I can change the situation to the better“.
So the businessman immediately starts shipping his milkpowder there. Suddenly the goatowner got nothing to do.

Lets think about this:

The businessman takes care of an area he never heard of and will never visit. Selfless. In this version he doesn’t need to make any money from it. He helps those, who need that kind of support.

Not the goatowner got sooooo much free time to spend. He has his cuties still around him. Our goatowner is actually super smart and starts dreaming of working as an engineer with a Ph.D.. He starts studying it for free and later uses his knowledge to help people that might be on the other side of the globe. Selfless.

So what is the conclusion of all this?

If we would life in a world where money isn’t a thing, it doesn’t matter where you are and who you are. You can have the same privileges as everyone. For some it might be repairing cars. For some milking cows. For some going to space. You can literally do what you want.

Okay.. but now nobody would feel obligated to do any job. Yes, because that is some kind of an anchor in our thinking. We have to do a job. But in a world without money you would work to sustain a worldwide standard. If its the woman who owns a bar and serves cold beer at the weekend, so everyone can get some steam off their heads. Or the Doctor who cures bad diseases.

The speed of developing new technology in every sector would boost to a level we have a tough time of imagine. All these people doing a job so that everyone can have the same thing.

If one region runs out of bread.. no worries.. another region will jump in and deliver bread. Because thats what you do if we were self supporting around the globe.

In a world likes this we could focus on the real important stuff. Progress and solving the real problems. There is not need for further competition.

You might say now "people will always start to fight and such“. Of course we will. We’re emotional from head to toe. Every time someone will break the nose of someone else. But if there is no border and no competition, there is no need to rage war at each other.

Well.. but why we’re not doing it that way already? Well, our world and thinking is still thinking our system is the best. And we protect it. It might be possible that we need some kind of an event that resets everything. Making us focus of more important things than money.

Thanks for the read and I hope we can have a nice discussion about it.

I was speaking to someone about a similar thing a day or so ago when what I pictured was the village from Asterix and Obelix, the fish monger, blacksmith, market guy and everyone just had their place because that is one they chose and it really just makes so much sense, yet I do not think that any living person will be alive when this could be a reality, frankly I do not think humanity at this point is capable of something like this and the only way to fast forward would be to have an almost extinction level event, or maybe just 3/4 or 1/2 whichever .

It would be really nice and as I said is the most logical thing, we have built generation on generation with ideas that serve no purpose other than to have a false sense of worth. A world without money would be great we just need a world where humans can fully comprehend that concept.

I am so glad @tawasi found this post and shared it in #post-spot on our @buddyup server - safelink feel free to drop in and say hi, we love discussions on great topics such as this one.

Yeah.. right now we're just not capable of doing so. Sadly. But I think in general this could work. But for that the whole human kind has to work hand in hand. Not seeing this coming so soon..
