If you know about Albanians , Kosovo , Serbians, you probably are aware of the major animosity between the Albanian and Serbians. In the 1990’s the war between the Albanians and Serbians really spun out of control. The Albanians were persecuted severely by the Serbians until they finally won and eventually won their independence.
With that animosity in place, and Albanians being very proud people this was expected to be an interesting game since there are 4 Albanian players playing for Switzerland. The Serbians in the audience were chanting rude and obscene things towards the Albanians on the Switzerland team. However , the chants were not reciprocated. When the goals were scored by the Albanian players Shaqiri and Xhaka expressed their pride and happiness in winning by making the hand gesture which represents the double headed eagle on the 🇦🇱 Albanian flag. As they were screaming and running around.
This was found to be un-sportsmanlike. They two players were fined for this, but luckily are being allowed to continue playing.
