In commemoration of World Sleep Day which falls every March 16th, Royal Philips released the findings of its annual global survey entitled Better Sleep, Better Health: A Global Look at Why We're Still Falling Short on Sleep. Surveys conducted in 13 countries are observing what makes people not get quality sleep.
This survey aims to encourage awareness of the importance of sleep quality as a pillar of health that is often forgotten.
"Sleep is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle.
How well and how long we sleep each night before is the most important variable that affects our feelings the next day, "said Dr. David White, Chief Medical Officer, Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care through a press release received by Sindonews.
It is estimated that more than 100 million people worldwide suffer from sleep apnea, 80% of whom remain undiagnosed and globally 30% of people have difficulty getting started sleeping without getting awake at night. Good sleep is very important for health, but only one-third of people with sleep disorders are seeking the help of health professionals. Collaborating with Richter and his annual survey, Philips wants to emphasize the importance of quality sleep for everyone around the world. The survey, conducted online in February by Harris Poll, examines the sleeping habits of more than 15,000 adult respondents in 13 countries.
