The NavaDurga, nine living goddesses is a unique religion and tantric practice here in Bhaktapur legends and chronicles tell us that Ananda Malla (12th century), king of Bhaktapur, was instructed by the Navadurga to set up their images in proper places,''to ensure the security and protection of the town both internally and externally''.

Since we know that the town of Bhaktapur is much more ancient and lichhavi inscription latest to the existence of quite a few settlements. It is reasonable to assume that Ananda Malla restricted the existing village when he chose Bhaktapur as a capital his kingdom. It lies inward no.9 in place of Bhaktapur. The goddess of Durga in Hinduism, especially worshipped during the Dashain festivals of Navaratri.
