Hello friends of Steemit, today I want to share with you some literature. When I was 17 years old I read "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe; At that time I thought it was a fascinating story, and even today I still see it. Today I decided to write my opinion about this story, and a brief summary of what it is about. And maybe allow you to also know this literary work, and maybe you're interested in reading it.
First I want to talk a little about Poe's life...
EDGAR ALLAN POE
He is known in the world for his short stories. Especially I innovate the gothic novels, and being very mentioned by outstanding works of terror. And as a highlight, he was one of the first Americans to make writing his way of life.
Among his works include the crow, the telltale heart, the barrel of amontillado, the stolen letter, the man of the crowd, the gold beetle, the black cat, among many others.
THE BLACK CAT (Summary)
The cat was his favorite animal, the one he loved the most, and named him Pluto, with the passage of time the man became ill-humored aggressive with his animals and his own wife due to alcohol.
One night when he returned home drunk, he noticed that the cat was dodging him, tried to pick him up, and in response the pussy cat with his claws, in revenge, the man tore the cat's eye out; the animal with the passage of healthy time, however the man irritated the presence of the animal. As a result of this one day the man decided to hang the cat, with a rope in a tree.
That same night he hanged the animal, his house was set on fire; everything collapsed, except for a wall where the gigantic figure of a hanged cat was marked. Which generated much surprise and fear in man. One day when leaving the tavern he found a cat very similar to Pluton. The gat was completely black except that it had white hair on the chest, besides it was missing an eye.
Over time the cat began to have hatred for the cat, while the cat increasingly wanted the man. The man although he wanted to kill him, because it reminded him of the crime he had committed with the previous cat. One day he went down to the basement with his wife, the cat crossed his path almost making him fall. Enraged the man took an ax wanting to unleash his rage against the cat, the woman interposed between the animal and him; in view of this the man killed by the rage attacked her and stabbed her in the head, causing his wife to die instantly.
Desperate, the man hid the corpse in the cellar, hiding it inside the wall; at the end of this, the man looked for the cat to kill him, but he could not find it.
Several times they came to investigate the house, however they found nothing. Four days later, the police went back to review the site, unable to find anything again, the man bragging about the solidity of his house, hit one of the walls with his cane, when doing this, a meow was heard behind the wall .
The curious police of this demolished the wall, in doing this they found the hidden corpse of the woman, and on this to the cat, ending like the cat as the informer of the crime.
My opinion... It seems to me a good story, full of mystery, clearly the second cat reflects a kind of revenge or punishment for the first man for having unleashed his rage against pluton, product of alhocol. I like the story because this plot of intrigue, suspense, mystery, is a bit somber, I recommend it.
