The RDS system in nigeria ceased to be a pure britain outfit programme with effect from 1939 as the public relation office of the government was allowed to rovide brief period programming featuring nigeria artistes. the nigeria service was also allowed to distribute the original programmes. the arrangement proved beneficial and helped shape nigerian broadcasting. the addition of nigeria entertainers to the programme services of the RDS station opened up new station and each station was now controlled by a broadcast officer from the federal information department. the staff became more concerned with nigerian culture and situation into broadcasting.

Nigerian artist were also allowed to feature, to display their talents and entertain the people in the local way, although, only one hour of the 18 hours day broadcasting was devoted to programmes, this gave nigerians broadcasting a new and an echanced status.
